What is “Girl Power! FINDING the BEST YOU”?
This is an evening of personal development and empowerment, inspiration, information, networking and fun. The sessions focus on topics such as, self-esteem, body image, physical fitness, hygiene and relationships.
Why was this workshop created?
- To empower, support, inspire, enhance and guide young women to achieve personal success in their lives.
- To raise awareness, connect, and provide young women with people, associations, and agencies available to them to aid in their success.
- To encourage young women to follow their dreams and “Believe in Themselves” to achieve success.
Who is behind Girl Power! success?
Girl Power! FINDING the BEST YOU was conceived and organized by Kayla Carroll, Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2009/2010, as part of her personal platform to empower youth, particularly young women to strive to be the best that they can be. Kayla is an inspirational role model and welcomes the opportunity to speak to young women about issues that concern them.

Young women in grades 4-7
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to attend the event.

- Group discussion and nail painting (have fun with colors while discussing how the media influences how we feel about and see ourselves)
- Becoming a woman (what you need to know)
- Collage making - Real vs. Fake Beauty
- Dancing and Snacks
- Movie time
- Picture time! (have your picture taken with Kayla Carroll, Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2009-2010)

Applications for the 2010 Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship Program will be accepted until Midnight, July 31, 2010.

- Since 2006, the Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship Program has awarded over $30,000 in scholarships.
- Juliette Dupre, Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2006, Julia Hiscock, Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2007, Beth Peddle, Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2008 and Kayla Carroll, Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2009, have together received over $300,000 in educational scholarships since winning their respective titles.
